Meet the CompanyVision Data and Communications Services came about in 2016 rather unexpectedly. After Founder Jim Coots' father was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he did a major assessment of where he was in life and where he wanted to be. After retiring from law enforcement at age 52, he realized he was far too young to not work.
About 6 months before retirement, Jim's daughter and a few of her friends were hired to put together new phones and place them in a local school system - which seemed like a pretty cool gig! After some research, it seemed companies needed hardworking folks who could take that burden off their engineers, technicians and IT specialists. Let's face it - they had far more important tasks to do and it just wasn't cost effective to have them spend hours simply unboxing, assembling and placing the phones. So, Jim started asking around, reaching out to some fellow retired officers and seeing what the interest was. Once it was met with enthusiasm, they put the word out. When a local data and technology company found out a bunch of trustworthy, mature, hardworking former cops were willing to do the job - and travel to out of town customer sites - Vision Data and Communication Services was born. More than 3 years later, the Vision DCS team has been to Tempe, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York City, Indianapolis, Chicago, Lexington, Louisville and all over the Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky area. What started out as a few folks who just unboxed, assembled and placed phones has grown into an experienced team of people who can troubleshoot; conduct site assessments; trace, tag and mark analog lines; run new analog lines; and migrate those lines over to the new system. It has been a great journey so far, full of new challenges, learning opportunities and the development of new friends and coworkers. We can't wait to see what the future brings! |
Meet the Team
Jim Coots, CEO & Founder
Though he is now the head of an up-and-coming technology company, Jim has worked most of his life in the Law Enforcement field, with a stint as an MP in the U.S. Army, followed by a tenure with the Covington, KY Police Department and work with the DEA and FBI. His many roles throughout the years (patrolman, field training officer, detective, plainclothes detective, undercover detective, polygraph examiner, major case detective - to name a few!) have prepared him for all of the hats one must wear when starting a company.
Born and raised in Northern Kentucky, Jim married his high school sweetheart and has raised two wonderful daughters, both of whom are very involved in Vision DCS. He now resides in Walton, Ky and attends church at Crossroads in Florence. When not busy running Vision, he likes to spend time working on his property, watching sports and enjoying a nice Bourbon. When his daughters aren't running him around with their house repairs, of course.

Established in 2016Vision started out as folks who just unboxed, assembled and placed phones. Now we are an experienced team of people who can troubleshoot; conduct site assessments; trace, tag and mark analog lines; run new analog lines and migrate those lines over to the new system. We have experience in mass deployments, as well as working side by side with technicians installing equipment one piece at a time. Our Team members have deployed phone systems for large call centers, several hospitals, bottling plants, offices and even a hotel.
